So much SPAM!
Seems to be a crazy amount of spam coming into Xanga 2.0. Thankfully, it is being flagged in my comments inbox so I can mark it as spam before it hits my actual entries. But, still, what’s going on with this deluge?

It’s the wordpress thing. WP gets lots of spam. Just make sure in your Advanced section that you choose ‘must be logged in to comment’ .. means they will have to have a xanga account to comment.
Yeah, I chose the “must give email address” to comment and set it so that anyone who has never had a comment approved by me before must first be moderated. That way all those comments are put in a handy queue that I can review. But it seems like there are still quite a number of them.

So far I have not had any problem with spam. I am surprised that you have to face it.

Hello! I’m not a spammer, but I am glad I have found your site; Much thanks for your kindness. I am not great with the I.T. Factors and admire those that do know technology more in depth. I was sure I was following you on 1.0 and thought that would naturally carry over to here, but I haven’t been seeing any posts by you in my dashboard/reading (ie: inbox)and when I did finally find you on a around about way, I saw I had to click to follow again. hmm. Cest la vie. I look forward to catching up on your posts, and as always, you are most welcomed to view mine. (I too have it as sign in lock- I think. Obviously I’ve been wrong before)

Well lucky me…..I thought that I needed a word press sight, in order to get on to Xanga, so….I opened one up….
This is what happened: Please go to message we sent, to verify your e-mail….Did that, and then it told me to sign in….I tried, and….
Your password has been changed….Go to message and receive new pass word to log in….
Did that, and new password they gave does not work, soooooo……I thought forget it!!
I came back to Xanga, and decided to change my password…..No more Xanga 1.0 and 2.0 appeared…..
After finally getting on here, things started working out fine….
The only thing I don’t like, is having to go back to the dashboard, and click reading, after I leave a comment on someone’s post…
There might be a faster way to navigate, although honestly I’m still figuring out my way around, too! =D

Even my reg wordpress sites get amazing spam. One gets in and then suddenly they all pile in. I have a Math Captcha plug in installed on my WP sites now and that totally helps, because I didnt mind people following, but not 500 bot followers. Just bugged me.
Oh, that’s a good idea. Will have to research how I can add that plug-in.

It means web trackers have made cookies on your browser and creates bots to spam your site.

I’ve gotten 2 or 3. I don’t blog enough to attract the attention of top spammers.
yeah….I havn’t really started to blog, however already received lots of spams…..
